Desperation

A world far from our own. It's predecessors gone and it's surface decayed from the ages. Deserts cover one half of the planet, while glaciers cover the other. The elements are clashing, and the environment is dangerous. There are strange creatures that live here. There are also the humanoid ones that now populate it in small nomadic tribes. Can you survive?

The Eclipse Plot

There is a race of beings called the 'Norillians'. They are dark and secretive. They inhabit the Mahema Trench. They're complexion has turned gray from living there over the generations. They're Queen, Kikorl, believes they decended from the original inhabitants of the planet, the predecessors. She wants to take back the surface of the world and rule over it. But they're pale skins cannot leave the Trench, for if they did they would burn up in the hot sun. Only at Night can they travel to the surface, collecting fresh air to take back into the labyrinth of tunnels they call home. But night time isn't nearly long enough for them to travel too far away from the Trench before they have to return.

Kikorl has learned of a myth, a legend, about a bloody red ruby. It's holder able to control the moon's cycles. The gem was created for peaceful reasons, to help farmers grow better crops, but now Kikorl has other intentions. With the ruby she can force an eclipse of the sun, and take over her world and make her people rule it's lands once more.

But first, they need to find the mythical gem. A trap was set, to trap a desert Sane. A man was caught, and imprisoned. Forced to help them in they're devious cause. Kikorl made him her temporary husband, and had a male son by him. A half Norillian, half Sane child. A prince of darkness, that could go above the surface and search for the rumored gem of power. Once he was born, Kikorl had her prisoner husband killed. When her son, named Mikaloe, turned 20, he was sent above the surface, to collect the gem.

He was told not to return until he had it in his possesion.
